  • Refinished slide and thank you

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions on my previous post. I know it will all work out, but it's just a little frustrating to me since he isn't home nor does he do the errands and wants me to do it a different way and he's told me before that I could eat out. But, I guess with baby 2 coming, we do need to start thinking differently. And every suggestion I have to save money including getting a doggie door to reduce heating and air costs in the long run from keeping the door open for the dogs is shut down.

But, we had a good day yesterday together as a family. It's an ICU month, so yesterday is one of four days we will be able to spend together all month.

If you remember, Garrick & I purchased this for $20 off of Craigslist:

But it was all faded, but anything we buy new will fade anyway too.

We found this spray paint by Krylon that bonds to plastic and we refinished it:

We didn't do the green side as it really wasn't faded. We'll see if the spray paint holds up, but it should. The spray paint can shows a picture of a plastic outdoor play house. Still debating on whether or not to do the slide part of it, but I'm kind of waiting to see whether or not the paint chips before deciding on doing the slide. I also don't know what color I'll want to do it either.

  • Frustrated and Excited and Pics.

    Frustrated:

I still haven't been able to get the H1N1 vaccine for myself. Being 33 weeks pregnant and asthmatic and a health care provider, you think I'd be able to get it. Isabel hasn't gotten her vaccine either. And I'm not scared of the side effects either. Garrick will get his even though he had H1N1 already because you can get it again, but he will get his when work gets it to vaccinate employees. Other hospitals have already vaccinated employees, but not his. They just vaccinated for seasonal flu about 2 weeks ago.

    Excited:

We are going to refinish the outdoor slide that we bought off of Craigslist. Isabel loves that thing! She slides on it every day, and the dogs like it too. All three of them try to go up the slide together. We found Krylon spray paint for outdoor plastics. I've read good reviews on it, and the sale person at the store recommended it. I will post before and after pictures.

We took Isabel to the fair and she loved the ducks, chickens, & roosters. She wasn't too sure about the horses and cows. She even ate part of fan elephant ear.

I get paid per patient and just found out that I can charge twice for a patient who requires a medical opinion. But that is also frustrating in the fact that I've probably lost out on hundreds of dollars over the past 11 months that I've worked there and didn't know that.

Isabel loves her new play house, especially the phone:

She also loves her new slide:

I am loving the fact that it is November and our sweet grass is purple and our camellia is blooming, but yet it's warm enough for the elephant ear and canna lily to keep on blooming:

I have more pics, but to come later. Xanga is funny uploading my pics, I have to try several times clicking choose and double clicking on pics. Anyone else with Mac have this problem?

  • Well, we bought this house for Isabel:

and put it on our patio. We found it at a warehouse well below what it retails for even at Walmart. She's enjoying it.

And today, we bought this off of craigslist for $20. It has a slide, but in the picture the slide isn't attached, but it attaches just fine. And it's one of those wavy slides. Garrick and I just got finished cleaning it up.

It cleaned up well. It is faded from the sun, but for $20, we have a climber and a slide. If you didn't know the one side is supposed to be red instead of the beigey color it is, you wouldn't know it's faded. There is also some paint splatters on it, but for $20, it'll get it's use. It also has a steering wheel. If Isabel isn't into it, I'll just put it up on Craigslist again and see if we can sell it for what we bought it for.

Okay, I'm exhausted from cleaning up the slide. It's 80 degrees outside. Too hot to be outside cleaning stuff.

  • Thanks and Waffle Vent

    Thanks:

Thanks everyone for your input about the outdoor toys. After talking to Garrick last night, we decided to go with a playhouse option for now and later one get a climber and slide. Isabel is only 13 months old, and the goal was to have something outside for her to play with while I sit on a chair on the porch and watch and feed the new baby. We decided it would be too dangerous to get a climber and slide right now. Isabel pushes her gross motor skills and doesn't know her limitations. Which is great, but she needs constant supervision. And if she was climbing and started to fall, I couldn't just drop the new baby to save her from falling. The new baby will be completely dependent on me to hold her for quite some time. But maybe around Isabel's second birthday (Sept. 29) or Christmas, she'll be a little more independent and maybe even walking around Christmas. Then it would be a good time to get a climber and slide for outside because then I could have both hands free for any type of accidents or even to just assist the kiddos.

    Waffle Vent:

This is a silly vent, but a vent none-the-less. :) I **absolutely** cannot make a waffle for the life of me. Yes, I follow the directions on the batter box to a T! We have a waffle iron, in fact, it's a Belgium one that flips. I spray the waffle iron with Pam thoroughly. And somehow, no matter what type of batter I try (Great Value, Hungry Jack, Bisquick) the waffle always sticks and comes out in pieces.

I don't even like waffles and end up eating something else for breakfast, but Garrick will ask me to fix him a waffle for breakfast (probably less than once a month). This morning was one of those mornings. I shudder when he wakes up and utters these words, "Babe, can you fix me a waffle for breakfast?" I absolutely hate doing it. It makes a mess... mixing bowl, egg shells, messy waffle iron, wisk. And I cannot do it right!!!!

I get so frustrated trying to get my waffles out of the iron and they always break up. He never says anything about the waffle being messed up. But he will say, maybe we need to try a different batter, or maybe it's the cooking spray, or maybe it's not being turned quick enough. But he just eats his waffle without mentioning the fact that it's all broken up.

I only do it for him because I know his love language is acts of service. It is an act of service for me to make him a waffle. I don't like them and I cannot do it right.

I just don't understand why I cannot make a waffle for the life of me! It is so frustrating! Why cannot I master the waffle iron?
